چکیده

Abstract: Elastic and geometric stiffness matrices were derived using Castigliano’s first theorem, for the case of torsion of restrained thin-walled bars of open constant bisymmetric crosssection. Functions which describe the angles of torsion were adopted from the solutions of the differential equation for restrained torsion. The exact solutions were simplified by expanding them in a power series. Numerical examples were taken from Kujawa M 2009 Static and Sensitivity Analysis of Grids. . . 97, GUT Publishing House, and Szymczak C 1978 Engineering Transaction 26 323. Convergence of the solutions was analyzed using the matrices derived for torsion angles, warping, bimoments and critical forces.

On the Exact Solution of Non-Uniform Torsion for Beams with Asymmetric Cross-Section

This paper deals with the problem of non-uniform torsion in thin-walled elastic beams with asymmetric cross-section, removing the basic concept of a fixed center of twist, necessary in the Vlasov’s and Benscoter’s theories to obtain a warping stress field equivalent to zero. In this new torsion/flexure theory, despite of the classical ones, the warping function will punctually satisfy the first...

Thin-walled beams: the case of the rectangular cross-section

In this paper we present an asymptotic analysis of the three-dimensional problem for a thin linearly elastic cantilever Ωε = ωε × (0, l) with rectangular cross-section ωε of sides ε and ε 2, as ε goes to zero. Under suitable assumptions on the given loads, we show that the threedimensional problem converges in a variational sense to the classical one-dimensional model for extension, flexure and...

Non-linear behaviour of thin-walled open section composite beams in lateral stability

An analytical study along with a numerical investigation is conducted to determine the lateral buckling strength of thin-walled open-section I shape composite beams. Based on Vlasov-type linear hypothesis beam stiffness coefficients, which account for a cross section geometry and material anisotropy of the section, are obtained. In this study the axial and bending coupling terms ( A,, , A,, , D...

Experimental Investigations into the Collapse of Simple and Reinforced Thin-Walled Channel Beams under Bending Loads

In this paper, collapse behavior of simple and reinforced thin-walled channel- section beams, subjected to three- point bending, is investigated. Many simple channel- section beams of different geometry and some reinforced ones were tested, and their strengths after collapse were obtained thoroughly. Since the available theories in this area are complicated and little attention has been paid to...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of Lateral Loading of Thin –Walled Tube with Different Indenter

Impact is one of very important subjects which always have been considered in mechanical science. Nature of impact is such that which makes its control a hard task. Therefore it is required to present the transfer of impact to other vulnerable part of a structure, when it is necessary, one of the best method of absorbing energy of impact, is by using Thin-walled tubes these tubes collapses unde...
